Individualized, One-on-One Concept/Skill Review and Practice

Students: Elementary and Junior High Level

Subjects: Mathematics, Writing, Reading or Science

Dates/Times: Weekly schedule individually set to meet student/family needs

Tuition: $47.50 per hour; includes a free 30-minute consultation before instruction begins

Our current Homework Help model continues during the summer with a customized, one-on-one model designed to assist students with needed concept/skill work. Review more challenging concepts/skills from this year’s work and/or prepare for next school year by getting a head start on learning requirements. Speed Reading and Comprehension Strategies

Students: Grades 10-12

Course Length: Six (2-hour) sessions = 12 hours of instruction

Dates: Tuesday & Wednesday; July 6/7, July 13/14, July 21/22

Time: 10:00 - Noon

Tuition: $500 per student

Learn to read faster and comprehend better through use of proven reading and comprehension strategies taught at the high school and college level. Topics covered include effective reading strategies to improve comprehension while increasing your reading speed. The six different modes of reading proficiency taught and practiced will enable the student to select their most effective reading speed for the task at hand.

 

High School Study Skills Seminar: Strategies for Success

Students: Grades 10-12

Course Length: Two (2-hour) sessions = 4 hours of instruction

Dates: Wednesday; August 11/18

Time: 10:00 – Noon

Tuition: $175 per student

Learn what constitutes effective Study Skills that will lead to better results in school and increase your ability to learn. The seminar will focus on: organization of school and at-home study spaces; time management and scheduling of school responsibilities; setting goals; strategies for reading textbooks in specific content areas; how to build a better vocabulary which will lead to better comprehension and improved test scores; developing effective listening skills; note-taking techniques; how to improve your memory; and, test prep strategies.

 

Skills and Strategies for Success in First-Year Algebra

Students: Grades 7, 8, 9

Course Length: Six (2-hour) sessions = 12 hours of instruction

Dates: JULY SESSION: Wednesday & Thursday; July 7/8, 14/15, 21/22

            AUGUST SESSION: Wednesday & Thursday; August 4/5, 11/12, 18/19

Time: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Tuition: $500 per student

This course is designed to build the basic prerequisite skills necessary for students to be successful in a first-year algebra course. The six sessions will include instruction and explanation, guided practice, and homework practice for the following skills: 1) Integer Operations; 2) Fraction Operations; 3) Percent Operations; 4) Decimal Operations; 5) Ratios & Proportions; and, 6) Problem Solving.

 

Introduction to Study Skills for Grades 5 & 6 Students

Students: Intermediate Level, Grades 5, 6

Course Length: Six (1-hour) sessions = 6 hours of instruction

Dates:  Tuesday & Thursday; August 3 & 5; August 10 & 12; August 17 & 19

Time: 11:00 – Noon

Tuition: $255 per student

This course will introduce students at a critically important time in their schooling to the study skills needed for academic success. Topics include: 1) Learner and Teachers; 2) Goal Setting; 3) Managing Study Time and Being Prepared; 4) Improving Listening, Concentration, Remembering; 5) Strategies for Reading Text and Note-Taking; and 6) Managing Test Anxiety/Preparing for Tests.
